Chris Scoble - Service Manager

“I have worked in the service industry for my whole career. As a young child I was always inquisitive about what was inside electronic devices. My family had to suffer me constantly breaking the TV, Hi-Fi or video recorder, as I would dismantle things and then never quite manage to get them back together and working properly again! Therefore, after leaving school I decided to study electronics to degree level and entered a career servicing, installing and repairing laboratory analysers and robotic liquid handling devices. I truly love working in this field and everything about it. The mix of my passion for electronic engineering, with science that saves lives, has always kept me interested in my day to day activities and technology is ever changing.

My role gives me the opportunity to work with some really great people, both the staff here at Alpha Labs and our wonderful customers. It’s interesting to see their day to day activities and provide the support to keep their instrumentation running at peak performance.

It’s great that I can now take things apart, put them back together and please people! Although managing a service department is way more multifaceted than just this, I think this is where my true passion still lies.

I am delighted to be working with Alan Hankinson, who together with our Product and Account Managers, strengthens the field team with his knowledge and skill base. We now have a solid force to ensure our customers’ equipment gets the best service delivery from the Service department at Alpha Laboratories.”

Alan Hankinson – Technical Specialist

“I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2009 with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science. From there I began working with NHS Lanarkshire – firstly as an MLA, then a Trainee BMS at Hairmyres. I was promoted to a Specialist BMS at Wishaw and then a Senior BMS at Monklands Hospital. It’s interesting being the other side of the bench and getting out and meeting customers, Hopefully they’ll be able to understand me!”

Gina Sanki – Technical Specialist

Expanding our team of Technical Specialists, Gina Sanki has recently joined Alpha Laboratories. Gina brings a wealth of experience gained working within the NHS.

“I graduated from Cardiff University in 2009 with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry. Following this I worked briefly as a HTO in the NHS Blood and Transplant centre in Bristol, then took a few months out to go travelling around Costa Rica. On returning to the UK I began a four year training post in the NHS as a Clinical Biochemist (including an MSc in Clinical Biochemistry) and was fortunate enough to then gain a substantive post at the end of my training. I then worked as a Senior Clinical Biochemist for the following five years.

I am looking forward to my new role, and I hope that working in the NHS for the past nine years will enable me to provide experienced support to Alpha Laboratories’ customers.”
